Frequently Asked Questions

General

Q1) I don’t have a car to get to the fields, can I still sign up?

We recommend you sign up and then check with your new teammates to see who might be coming from the same area as you. There are generally quite a lot of folks in Noultimate who appreciate carpooling. Also, you can post a carpooling question on the forum section of the website.

Q2) I’m potentially going to miss a lot of games, can I still sign up?

We prefer you not sign up if you know in advance that you will miss more than half of the games. Because leagues are capped, it would be unfair to miss a bunch of games when others will have to sit out. If you choose to play, please indicate this information, so the drafting captains can accommodate.

Q3) Should I attend the draft? How do I find out what team I’m on?

Only captains attend the draft. Within several days of the draft you should hear from your captain via email. Also, we update the website with rosters. If you do not know which team you are on within 3 days of the first league games, contact us.

Q4) I want to play with my 2-3 friends, how do we sign up together? Can we put together our own team?

Currently our leagues are not designed to allow this. The draft is done to ensure that there is as much talent distribution among the teams as possible, so that all games are competitive. However, during the draft, every attempt will be made to group relatives and out of town players (from the same location) so that their games are at the same time.

Q5) How do I register?

You can register via paypal. There is a link on the Registration Page.

Payment

Q1) How can I get a refund?

Sorry, there are no refunds. The only exception is if you signed up and paid after the 120 person cap has been reached. Then you will be refunded.

Q2) What do I get for my money?

Registration for SUMMER LEAGUE gets you: 8 weeks of league play, a season ending tournament, a disc, a t-shirt, invitation to a league party, and beer discounts at our post-game sponsor.

Registration for FALL ULTIMATE LEAGUE gets you: 4 weeks of league play (2 games per night) and beer discounts at our post-game sponsor.

Registration for FALL GOALTIMATE gets you: 7 weeks of league play, plus a 2 game minimum playoffand beer discounts at our post-game sponsor.

Registration for SPRING ULTIMATE LEAGUE gets you: 4 weeks of league play (2 games per night) and beer discounts at our post-game sponsor.

Rules

Q1) Can I bring my dog(s) to the field?

Although many of us are dog lovers, we need you to leave Fido at home. All pets should be on hand-held leashes, not unattended. Obviously this is impossible if you are playing. Also, hot or rainy days don’t usually make for happy pets. Please consider your fellow ultimate players…no one wants to play on a field after a dog has roamed onto it to leave a care-package.

Q2) What is the rule on bringing alcohol to the fields?

This is New Orleans, so alcohol is permitted. If you feel that alcohol is necessary, so be it. However, in the interest of competition, it might be wise to wait until our post-game parties, held at one of our sponsoring bars.

Q3) Can I wear metal cleats?

NO. We don't want anyone injured and metal cleats can cause nasty gashes and broken bones for opposing players. Please wear plastic or RUBBER OR PLASTIC CLEATS ONLY.

Communication

Q1) How will I know when our game(s) are canceled?

We have several ways to announce cancellations. We send a note via email. Our website homepage gets updated with the details. We will cancel league games if the fields have received a reports of nearby tornadoes or lightning strikes, but otherwise we will typically be playing - even in the rain . We make our best effort to provide advanced notice, but this is not always possible.

Q2) I have a problem with another player in the league, what do I do?

If you feel that a player (including any captain) has violated the league conduct policy, or if you have any other similar concern, we encourage you to contact either your team captain or the league commissioner. We take player misconduct very seriously, and hope to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all our players and community. We will respect your desire for confidentiality, should any concerns be raised.

Other

Q1) I’d like to suggest changes or help out for future seasons. Who can I contact about that?

You may contact your team captain and/or the league commissioner. We also encourage you to get involved as a volunteer.

Q2) Where can I find more information about Ultimate Frisbee?

Please feel free to peruse our site. There you will find links to other ultimate sites and information. One major source is USA Ultimate (www.usaultimate.org). While New Orleans Ultimate is not a USA Ultimate-Sponsored League, we highly recommend USA Ultimate as a resource for learning about ultimate.
